Chapter 37

Dear Diary,

Here it goes, once again reflecting on this weekend’s events.

First and foremost, I’m glad to have been able to finally speak to my parents. Boy, were they happy to hear from me. My mother was in tears again, and even my dad sounded a bit emotional. It was so nice to hear their voices.

I told them all about my week and about how I’m going to be interviewing for a work-study job at a dance studio, just like back home. My mother was excited and wanted to hear more about the big city life.

For now, I’m only sharing some stuff with them. I’m not ready to discuss Henry yet. I know they would worry if I mentioned him. I just told them about the meet and greet and about being able to meet all the professors, deans, and former alumni. I also told them about attending Sunday Mass with Sandy. My mother and father were so happy to hear that I’m not neglecting church.

“Oh, Mia, this makes us so happy,” said my mom. “We miss you, honey.”

“I miss you guys, too.”

“So, when can we expect to see you?”

“Not for awhile, Mom. School is getting hectic, and once I begin working I can’t really say when that will be.”

“We understand,” said my dad.

“I will call you later this week.” “Please do, honey,” Mom said. “Love you guys.”

“We love you,” Dad replied.

It was good to be able to talk with them for a while. I had been feeling guilty about not having the time to call them more, but with school and so many social events going on, it has just been so hectic. I am glad that I have Sandy, and now Henry. I can tell he is very polite. He even insisted on paying our bill at the restaurant. Sandy and I told him we would prefer paying for ourselves, but he told us he wanted to take care of it since he’d tagged along with us. We will see how it all turns out. I am just glad I opened up about Leo. He will always be a part of me. There is no reason to hide it.

Well, that is all for now. I do have an interview tomorrow before my first class.

Later, Mia
